But first, a note on 'Vertigo'

Alfred Hitchcock's magnum opus was inspired by the novel 'The Living and The Dead', by Boileau-Narcejac, which follows private investigator Scottie Fergusson and his obsession with Madeline and the mystery surrounding her death.

Kalangarai Vilakkam (1965)

Starring M.G. Ramachandran, it follows Ravi, a lawyer, who meets a mysterious woman who claims to be Sivagami, the wife of an ancient Tamil Pallava King.

One on Top of the Other (1969)

George Dumurrier, a self-centred doctor, is suspected of the murder of his wife Susan. But, Monica, a stripper, bears a striking resemblance to Susan. Also considered to be an inspiration for Basic Instinct (1992)

Obsession (1976)

Regarded as a remake of 'Vertigo', it follows Michael Courtland, who is mourning the deaths of his wife and daughter, suddenly finding a woman in Italy who bears a resemblance to his wife.

High Anxiety (1977)

A comic parody by Mel Brooks, it follows Dr. Richard Thorndyke, and his appointment at the Psycho-Neurotic Institute for the Very, Very, Nervous, replacing another doctor, who died in very mysterious circumstances.

Twin Peaks (1990-1991)

David Lynch's iconic television series which blends mystery, horror and supernatural genres, was inspired by Vertigo.

Mulholland Drive (2001)

A surrealist and neo-noir mystery film by David Lynch (once again), has heavily influenced narratives from Hitchcock's works, blended with Lynch's surrealist filmmaking.
